π EA Field Guide (How to Implement)
π Materials & Location
- Where are the physical tools stored? Token cards attached to student's desk. Spare tokens in the EA desk pouch.
- Digital links/files to print replacements:
G-Drive/Classroom-Resources/Behavior/Token-System-5Star.pdf
πΆββοΈ Step-by-Step Routine
- Setup: Before seatwork begins, have the student choose their target reward icon and place it at the end of the token strip.
- Earning Tokens: Deliver a token immediately following a predefined interval (e.g., 3 minutes of focused writing or 5 math problems completed). Pair token delivery with specific verbal praise ('Great focus on problem 2!').
- Cash-In: Once all 5 tokens are earned, immediately deliver the chosen reward or break activity.
π¨ Troubleshooting & Avoidance (When things go wrong)
- If off-task behavior occurs: Silently point to the empty token slots. Do not engage in verbal back-and-forth.
- What NEVER to do: NEVER remove previously earned tokens as a consequence for bad behavior. Earned tokens belong to the student.
- Signs of frustration: Attempting to take tokens manually or sighing heavily. Adjust the interval to be shorter so tokens are earned faster.
